I am Gordon Inc. Danish writer and multi-artist, 44, named after the American cartoon-hero Flash Gordon.

I have written 3 books, done numerous spoken word-shows and movies, castrated myself in public television and exhibited myself naked in a glass cage for 32 days at an art-gallery under the title "Man is the greatest work of art."

I am in Istanbul to seek inspiration and knowledge and do a spoken word preaching about the unifications of all religions, hopefully in the Hagia Sophia.

After my visit to Istanbul I will travel on to Aleppo, Damaskus, Bagdad and Iran.



I come as a friendly ambassador from Denmark. I consider myself as a spiritual rock`n`roller.
My mission is to re-brand the name of Denmark in a positive way in the middle east.

Danish Artist and intergalactic traveller, working situationistically with spokenwords and live-literature, poetry, fiction, installation, video- and soundscapes, painting and various cross-over forms. Originally educated in Cultural Anthropology and Communications at Universities in Aarhus (AAU), Copenhagen (KU) and Santa Barbara (UCSB), Claus Ankersen constantly examines and questions the human condition. Claus Ankersen has been instrumental in the development of Danish spoken word, and is a legendary figure in Danish Slam Poetry, although he only competes with him self and his artistic strive towards deeper understanding of man.

Claus Ankersen is a multifacetted artistic and creative fountainhead, he works situationalistically, exploring and channeling the chaotic here and now into text, spoken words, sound- and videoscapes, installation, paintings or whatever expression suits.



As part of the triangle project # 4, I will exhibit video installation and do live performance in clubs and outdoor. I will seek to coorperate with the tyrkish artists. I will also do live painting outside.
I will try to create new material while in Istanbul, reflecting the contextual atmosphere. I would love to cooperate with musicians and dj's performing spokenword poetry in clubs or outdoor

MATTER OUT OF PLACE.



Like New York, Istanbul is several worlds in one. But perhaps even more segregated onto fragments with little or no interaction. Thus we are dealing with hyper-fragmentet cultural realities in the
same city, with an enormus difference betwen rich and poor, between classes and kinds.

Writing these lines, I am compelled to explore this dynamic by deploying a matter-out-of-place tactic, pondering the quirky effects it could have to present art -in contexts where the majority of art
consumption is somewhat differently focussed. Taking the arts to the streets is one thing, taking the street art into the fine salons, is another. Thus presenting revolutionary spokenword monologues for an upper-class segment, for instance will have a greater impact, than if presented in a street culture: Examples:
Dinner readings – I would like to read for people while they eat (private contexts)
TV and Broadcast – To reach as great a segment as possible
Executive VIP readings

Put poetry on the streets
Put poetry everywhere

Another thing I would like to do, is live commenting people in the streets with megaphone or PA (everybody with' green hair, please report to the mayors office at this instant, everybody with moustaches.. etc.. perhaps in cooperation with a turkish artist that can do instant translation and shout the same in turkish..or the opposite)



Summing up these lines, I am all for communitas and coorperation, curious, creative and focussed on playfully grasping a hold of the big old here-and-now, and see how it can be molded into some kind of expression, making a point, and hopefully making a difference.

With the opportunity for constant presence, I see jewellery as pure potential!! Potential to not only adorn & distinguish ourselves, but to move, to remind, to manifest, to save, to flash or reveal, it is potential to react, question, push, pull, kick, scream, touch, play & experience in a world much defined by our belongings -if not our longing to belong…


The work is mainly based on curiosities and questioning of the world around me. I seek to create profound connections between the wearer and the jewellery, thus generating physical and metaphorical contact to the self when worn.

Utilising the fact that there is a quite intimate relation between the jewellery and the wearer, as well as the fact that jewellery has the ability to seduce the viewer, remarks, juxtapositions and curious investigations can be made on personal value and signal value through jewellery. I see the body as a very obvious medium for carrying reflections on the human condition, as well as showing social and visual influences of our time. These influences may show as a questioning of the conventional and general perceptions i.e. by using the symbolism of leaving a mark -as when passing on something which is precious to us.

The central aspect of my works presents an undefined moment in time from where one can reflect on contemporary society. It is an almost dystopic vision, in which power relations, structures of society and behavioral patterns undergo massive breakdowns.

The works often depict sceneries revolving around an uncertain event that has happened or has yet to happen, a significant event, a collapse of the existing structures in society.

From this other space before and after the event, the potentiality to reflect on the world and human nature in new perspectives, arise.

The depicted Dystopia is therefore never a negative realm of pure stagnation but rather an engine for potentiality. It creates a space of pure potentiality and its characters are vessels of this, yet to be defined, potentiality.



The works, often moving in the cinematic and fictive narrative, insist on a certain link to some form of surrounding “reality”. The scenarios are rearrangements of a given functional space; the performances present natural bodies; the choreographies become exercises and rituals in which the individual flaws penetrate the uniform; and the themes and issues at hand is to be found in the worlds political “reality”; a “reality” that is continuously challenged on the fragility of its own concept, by the metaphysical and the paranormal.

It is a projection into an unknown world of becoming, in sequences of time that seem to repeat and yet evolve, though always completely rooted in the present and in this presents perception of “reality”. In the words of Philip K. Dick: “Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away."

The works draw on specific theoretical sources such as Foucault, Badrillard, Arendt, Ranciere and Badiou, but also psychoanalysis is used with references to Lacan and Zizek. Literary works of fiction also appear as sources of inspiration, numerous writers such as K. Dick, Bradbury, Orwell, Sartre, Hesse and Baudelaire.


It is a meeting between a contemporary political “reality” and the power relations within it, and the fictive construction from where this “reality” can be flipped upside down and be seen in a new perspective that is the point of tension in my art project.

We are Bitmobilen and we make music on gameboys. Our influences come
from a lot of different places but the tracks usually end up sounding
something like dub step, grime, drum n' bass, jungle, gabba and
bassically bass music. We like to raise heart rhythms. beeeop.

Our music often starts out in all kinds of genres and quite a few
songs have been made while traveling around europe. But mostly we make
it in a small bedroom in copenhagen and play at local places so we're
looking forward to taking our sound with us and expecting that it will
lead to some interesting reactions and confrontations.

So we're coming with a backpack full of cords and gameboys and we're
looking for some good times in the streets, early mornings and flea markets.
We're always looking for new ways and inspiration which is the main
objective so if you're a turkish mc, street singer, circuit bender or

THE TRIANGLE PROJECT PART 3 - BUILDING THE PYRAMID

Midsummer Solstice 2008
Every artist going from Copenhagen to New York brought along white cubes through the customs and security controls. It was part of the group effort and collaboration to build a Pyramid on Governors Island.

This in a similar way they built the Pyramids and Stonehenge. It was made possible by the artists good intent and Peter Lassen's good will. The building in the back is Building 14 where the Emergence Exhibition was housed. The Emergence Project got an artist grant from Black Rock Arts Foundation, was in collaboration with Figment and was part of the Figment events on Governors Island in 2008.

THE TRIANGLE PROJECT PART 3 - NEW YORK

The Triangle Project is currently in New York for it's third installment. On the 17th there was a wonderful performance by Atoi, Teppop and Dansk Fløde at LIT Lounge, along with a premier screening of one of the chapters from Jacob Fuglsang Mikkelsen's film "PTSD 911" at FUSE Gallery.

On June 19th there is an opening at ABC No Rio at 7pm, and there will also be a performance by Dansk Fløde & co. The exhibition is based on a chapter from The Triangle Project Book called "Grounded - Was Man Meant to Fly?"

From the 20th to the 22nd of June, the project will be part of the EMERGENCE project on Governors Island.

On the 24th at 8pm, Neke Carson will present the project at The Gershwin Hotel. KARGO will perform, Claus Ankersen will present spoken word, Martin K Jørgensen will show his latest short film and Doctor Jesper Eugen-Olsen of Dansk Fløde will hold a lecture on suPAR that is his brilliant invention saving lives.

KARGOLOGY

The Project: The performance/public intervention project KARGOLOGY is an investigation of information patterns in public space as well as the ways individual people experience the constant flow of information in the city.

KARGO have been taking their starting point in the idea of an information free utopia. What if the city would be wiped clean over night? It would be an impossible task to delete all information, but the group have used one whole week in Vienna to delete as much information as possible, simply by painting signs, shops, commercials, pictograms, posters and maps white on their way. They have been painting white as an attempt to create a clean, open, free space. A public white cube. A space where every person in the city is free to insert his or her own information.

KARGO has no intention of asserting a theory regarding the subject though. The project is more about carrying out an experiment and let the public react Documentation of the experiment are presented along with thoughts on the subject in a performance with live music and video projections. As the project will be shown more times, more public interventions will be made in the cities where it will be shown, and subsequently more documentation of street action will be integrated.

An installation for the performance is constructed, in which the performance is live-recorded and played next to repetitions of the same performance again and again, thus allowing more and more layers of information and reflections to be assigned.

KARGOLOGY has been shown at The Triangle Project in Istanbul as a part of the 10th Istanbul Biennial, as well as in MAK Museum of Applied Arts in Vienna.

Atoi

Atoi is a band from Copenhagen, Denmark that reaches for treads to hold on to which turns in to funny balls of yarn and colorful sweaters. The music is knit together by 5 persons that in assembly creates the diverse outcome, played with an ever changing instrumentation and odd pop melodies combined to the modern sound of today.



Atoi has been a figure in the underground for some time, and has played concerts at some of the most recognized venues in Denmark: Roskilde festival 2007, Public Service 2005, Norberg festival (Sweden) 2006. Atoi has released their cover of Björk’s “Army of me” on Björk’s own record ‘Army of me - Remixes and Covers’.

Dansk Fløde (translated Danish Cream)

-Dansk Floede is Art Rock presented with more visuals than an acid trip gone wrong!

The encounter with Dansk Floede is a rock band flirting with punk, garage, electronic and ska elements. The music is inspired by White Stripes, Velvet Underground, Laurie Anderson and Chicks on Speed. Recently the band performed with Norwiegen opera star Tuva Semmingsen in a punk version of "Carmen".

FERRY LOCATION AND TIMES

The Governors Island Ferry departs from the Battery Maritime Building at 10 South Street, in Lower Manhattan. This is the old green building from 1908 that is immediately to the left of the Staten Island Ferry building on the East Side of Lower Manhattan.

The easiest way to get to the Battery Maritime Building via public transportation is by the #1 train to South Ferry Station, the 4/5 trains to Bowling Green Station, or the W/R trains to Whitehall Street Station.

Neke Carson who together with Michael Wiener hosts a weekly performance in Gershwin Hotel's Living Room, will also host The Triangle Project on the 24th of June 2008.
