He brough german expressionism to the Fiorucci club culture of New York in the 1980s, this Friday we will celebrate him at studio live with special Klaus Nomi performance by Hazavuzu's Ozgur Erkok and video screenings from both Nomi Song documentary and Nomi music videos. Asmundur Asmundsson will perform with his puppet.

Klaus Nomi (born Klaus Sperber) was a counter-tenor and baritone singer and performer, noted for his remarkable vocal performances and unusual stage persona.Klaus Nomi He died of AIDS-related illness, one of the first celebrities to die of this disease.
Nomi moved from Germany to New York City in the mid-1970s, where David Bowie saw his nightclub act and hired him as a backup singer. Nomi and Joey Arias famously performed with Bowie on an episode of Saturday Night Live in 1979. Nomi also collaborated with Manny Parrish.
Nomi is remembered for his bizarrely theatrical live performances, sporting heavy make-up, unusual costumes, and highly-stylized hairdos. His songs were just as unusual, ranging from synthesizer-laden interpretations of classic opera to covers of songs like Chubby Checker's The Twist.

THE TRIANGLE PROJECT
is an international "Intentional Art" project. The project is based on a creative exchange and dialogue between artists and collaborators on the art scene of Istanbul, New York and Copenhagen.
We believe
in the necessity of an ongoing dynamic exchange between people – between different interests, horizons, attitudes, beliefs, expressions, forms and shapes. The Triangle Project stands for NO FEAR, openness and synergy: 1+1=3. Our purpose is to enhance this process by means of the powers that lie in artistic inspiration, creation and expression.
The Triangle Project is a statement on the world in the context of globalization: the process of social development and intercultural progression is strongly interwoven with INNOVATION, requiring CREATIVE INSPIRATION, requiring INTERACTION & COLLABORATION.
Our goal
is to create a network of artists and gain cultural insight through development projects in the three cities. The project seeks to facilitate intercultural dialogue and create sustainable collaboration between artists in the three cities Istanbul, New York and Copenhagen. This network and practical knowledge will also be used as a platform to introduce the Danish Cultural Institute in Istanbul. The project hereby broadens up the cultural exchange, that which for a number of years has taken place between Denmark and New York as a special initiative under the Danish Arts Council, to include Istanbul on the border between Europe and the Middle East.
During the last couple of years,
Istanbul has developed a cutting-edge art environment reaching a high level of quality and innovation. However, artistic vitality and innovation still seems to be associated with western metro poles such as Berlin and Barcelona that for many years have attracted creative people from all over the world, setting the standards for artistic and cultural expression. Or seen from an American perspective; New York and Los Angeles. In comparison, Istanbul is still unknown territory to most people in the western cultural hemisphere. At this point Istanbul is without doubt one of the most interesting upcoming "hip" cities in Europe. One shouldn’t forget either Istanbul’s position as the gateway between East and West, or the fact that the city was known by the Vikings as Miklagaard – The Great City.
The Triangle Project is an attempt to strengthen the dialogue, exchange of ideas, knowledge sharing and the hands-on cultural cooperation between Turkey, Denmark and America. The project offers a platform for artistic creation and intercultural dialogue in a long term perspective.
The Triangle Project springs
from the belief that Danish artists, in collaboration with Turkish and American artists, can address global issues by collaboration and interaction with the language and codes of art and culture.
Kickstarting
The Triangle project into motion happens with two exhibitions and a number of other artistic and cultural events as part of the 10th International Istanbul Biennial.
Our center of events
during the biennial is The Hall, a 131 old former Armenian church founded by three philanthropic sisters. Here The Triangle Project can be experienced in the form of an untraditional and ever-changing exhibition that introduces sound and taste as its main focus of attention. The exhibition presents a variety of sound artists, visual installation artists, DJs and Vjs along with food artists. During the day hours, visual installations and sound installations will interact with each other, whereas in the nighttime audiences will be offered a more event oriented experience with DJ and VJ performances deliciously served with food for thought, body and soul.

is situated in the center of Istanbul. The exhibition opens on Wednesday the 5th of September just before the official opening of the art biennial and will culminate on Monday the 10th of September presenting a mashed up and remixed version of the past week’s events.
At The End of The Rainbow
The Triangle project presents a number of the finest Danish contemporary artists in a separate exhibition aiming to show the multifarious forms of expression within the field of visual idiom. This exhibition will take place in an exhibition center called
BM Suma Contemporary Arts Center, presenting Danish artists who are highly acclaimed on the international art scene.
Among the visual artists in the project are Peter Bonde, Jon Stahn, Anders Brinch, Thierry Geoffrey Colonel, Fie Norsker, Maria Wæhrens, Marco Evaristti, Ismar Cirkinagic, Rasmus Bjørn, Anna Odell. Each of these artists will create special works for the exhibition, based on the concept "At The End of the Rainbow"

We work with Mashup
as a concept that enables a full integration of these different elements into an inter-dynamic whole, thereby grasping the very core of cultural, social and artistic development. The idea of open source by and for all is the logical progression of pop culture and the mindset of all creative people.
The same line of thinking that motivated the invention of software mashups has formed the basis for cultural exchange and artistic innovation since the dawn of day. Also, today – parallel to the growing importance of computer technology within the field of communication, business marketing and data administration in general – computer technology has worked its way massively into the field of arts. Within the music scene the term mashup refers to the refinement and blending of elements from different products into a new independent output exceeding the sum of its parts.
Within this cultural, artistic concept of mashup lies a vision of anarchy and democracy working hand in hand in the process of creating one unified final product of cultural interaction.
Altogether
The Triangle Project promotes a broad variety of Danish culture and contemporary art while at the same time forming a strong platform for a continued exchange and dialogue between the three corners of the triangle.

The concept of the Biennial:
Optimism in the Age of Global War
The 10th İstanbul Biennial will not be thematic exhibition in the traditional manner; rather, it will emphasise artistic production based on collective intelligence and the living process of negotiating with physical sites.
The Biennial will focus on urban issues and architectural reality as a means of exposing different cultural contexts and artistic visions regarding the complex and diverse form of modernity.
The current mutation of the global art scene reflects the restructuring of the world order prompted by the inventions and realizations beyond the traditional hegemonic vision of the West. This tendency is naturally the focus of the upcoming İstanbul Biennial.
The unique context of Turkey provides a perfect location and momentum for artistic and cultural expolarations of such an issue. It represent aspiration and optimism- it’s a kind of a realizable utopia. We are living in a an age of globalization and its impact on different parts of the world not only create economic cultural and social progress, but also spread conflicts and wars all over. Facing such a reality, better visions of our life and society driven by the dynamism of modernization and certain utopian idealism are urgently needed. Such endeavours are not only possible. They are also necessary.
As one of the Non-Western Biennial, İstanbul Biennial is now achieving a real maturity. How to re-engage the Biennial to invent new local conditions facing the challenge of globalizations is crucial. It implies continous effort to produce a new locality for more open, complex, multicultural and creative artistic and cultural activities.
The 10th Biennial will more intimately engage itself to the contemporary urban reality by highlighting the interactions between artistic creations and exchange, Articulating the city as a site of production and exchange, the Biennial looks to turn itself into an immense laboratory for artist from both Turkey and all around world to explore such possibilities and even necessities of transformation. The Biennial therefore systematically expreimenttal and committed to the dialogs between the artists and local public. So Biennial, instead of exposing any definite concept, is a platform of imagination, dialogue and production.

Triangle Project presents a wide range of the Danish experimental electronic music scene.
This collection of artists comprises a large group from Aarhus, and a smaller group from Copenhagen.
The main differences between the two being that the Aarhusian section is more rooted in institutional forms, where the Copenhagen group is more connected to club and/or street culture.
Copyflex
With the heart connected to something that makes noises and other electronic distorted sounds is the output of Copyflex; danceable, upbringing and positive with noise Copyflex reach out and fondle the deepest fear of the human psyche in an energetic uprising and controlled way.
Kid Kishore
Is the master of Danish Mash-up. He produces and perks up ethnic music. Let’s call it: Perk Tech (Danish ghetto tech), Hardcore Bhangra Mash-up, Tabla Tjekno, UK Bhangra, Goldenage Bollywood, Eow Punk. He is the gabber of styles.
Mikkel Meyer
Mikkel Meyer is a composer, producer and laptop musician with a special interest in translation and conversion of sound material. He has among other things produced for ResonanceFM and Danish Radio and performs in several different band constellations. On his own Mikkel turns his hand to a dubbier, more Berlin-centric music style, by fusing Jazz, Electronica and pure dub Techno, he imbues his tracks with static, hiss and funk. Freaked out samples that are cut-up and looped to perfection meet incredibly detailed rhythmic structures to create a dense, funky vibe that will move you as well as engage you.
Radio Magica:
Consisting of Søren helvild Raagaard, Tanja Schlander and CIBO.
Was founded in the beginning of this millennium.
Here people met. The sound of people was the core theme and the range of abruptly noises from; dinner-conversations, demonstrations, dance-floors and the psycho- geographic city-walks painted the picture of the sonic being of everyday life. Small talks, DJ'ing, slow food and master productions of a various homegrown electronic music and poetry were fundamental ingredients in this sonic soup.
Radio Magica is still; all that noise."

Fueled by years of dance floor attendance at raves and jungle/ dnb venues he started sculpting away at his intricate take on beat programming. Quickly getting recognition for his uncompromising sound and overwhelming presence on stage.
Always pushing the boundaries of rhythm and sonic possibilities, puzzleweasel's compositions are dense storms of, complex brain wave manipulating wonderment. Fusing IDM, breakcore and all things experimental, leaving your synapses tingling and ankles wrecked.
Maia Hauser
Entered the scene as a classical ballet dancer. Though her experience as a choreographer she started to explore the experimental electronica as a composer. Her sonic universe is dramatic and intuitive with a compelling straight forwardness.

Pol Mod Pol is brutal harsh noise vs. breakcore beats chopped up with a beyond fucked sense of rhythmics. All while claiming to be dance music just like Britney Spears.

Teppop’s sound leads you back to once upon a digital time.
His is denoting music in a straightforward way that deliberately rejects sophisticated artistic techniques. These syntpop-melodies. has a bold directness resembling, for instance the Commodore 64 and other features from the birth of playful interaction with a computer.

Steffen is engineering music and sonic fields in Pure Data patches.
And have since 1994 been a member of the legendary Noise ensample Alarm 112 and has made several contributions to the Danish Radio at Ultra-lyd.
Karsten Pflum
Contributes to the electronic music scene with something oddly swinging and complex. Pflum is a creator of twisted yet melodic tracks with an epic quality, exploring the borderland between repetition and rhythmic intricacy.
Jonas Olesen
Heats him self by deconstruction. His warm-hearted analyses forces the puzzles of the abstract into something playful and almost childish. Olesen’s understanding of internal workings of sonic language and conceptual systems transform even glitch into an outstanding and sustaining harmony. This is electro acoustic avant-garde.
Band Ane
Band Ane is producing melodic and well composed electronic music full of life and atmospheres and her approach to the music is anarchistic – completely without any rules of what to do and no to do.
In a delicious way she is using the whole scale of musical elements and she is including genres such as electronica, pop, children’s music, drum and bass and happy hardcore. Both elegant and consistent melted.

Heats him self by deconstruction. His warm-hearted analyses forces the puzzles of the abstract into something playful and almost childish. Olesen’s understanding of internal workings of sonic language and conceptual systems transform even glitch into an outstanding and sustaining harmony. This is electro acoustic avant-garde.
Band Ane
Band Ane is producing melodic and well composed electronic music full of life and atmospheres and her approach to the music is anarchistic – completely without any rules of what to do and no to do.
In a delicious way she is using the whole scale of musical elements and she is including genres such as electronica, pop, children’s music, drum and bass and happy hardcore. Both elegant and consistent melted.

Description: THE TRIANGLE PROJECT
The Triangle Project is a cross cultural international art project that will take place in Copenhagen, New York and Istanbul.
The first stop of the project will take place During the Istanbul Biennial September 2007 (http://www.iksv.org/bienal/english/bienal.asp?cid=3&ms=1|1).
There will also be several pre-event parties in Copenhagen during the summer to promote the concept along with creating interaction between the artists and the collaborating partners.
Vision:
Denmark has the potential to set an example for sustainable cultural exchange, cross cultural interaction and communication to the rest of the world. The National Triangle Project is a project building bridges of culture between Copenhagen, New York and Istanbul. The Danish Cultural Ministry is launching a large project creating opportunity for Danish artists to go to New York and broaden their minds, while Istanbul is the city in the future Europe amongts other progressive developments will be European Cultural City 2010.
History:
Going back 1000 years, Istanbul (Miklagaard -The Great City) was the place the Danish vikings travelled to for inspiration and satisfaction of their need for something else than what Denmark had to offer. For the last couple of decades New York City has had the same role, not only for Danes but for all creative people worldwide wanting to expand their horizons.
The project is as much a vehicle for interaction, integration and communication as it is a platform for cultural exchange and launching pad for Danish, Turkish and American artists into a future of new friendships and collaborations in between each others cultural and artistic scenes.
Some other simple facts are that Denmark needs to make a mark in both America and the Middle East as a country of progressive new thoughts and initialize cultural understanding and acceptance between East and West.
This is also underlined by the fact that the Danish Cultural Institute is planning to open a Institute in Istanbul and this project will be a way to lay the grounds for theses plans.

FIRST MEETING
The first meeting took place on sunday june 17th. Present was Jacob Fuglsang, Tania Schlander, Levent Bøilerhauge and Åsmund Boye Kverneland. The aim of the meeting was to define the format of the project's precence at the Istanbul Biennale, and to map out strategies towards sponsors and participating artists.
The Triangle Project will be using the church location (The Hall) as a combined performance/exhibition space and a headquarter during the Istanbul Biennale, making it a centerpoint for all activities of the project. The Hall will mostly be used as an active performance/exhibition space, but will possbily also include a "peoples kitchen", as well as an overview over all collateral events outside the space.
The sponsor(s) should be offered to use all of the documentation material gathered during the Biennale, but should not expect to get their heavily exposed i.e. logos on clothes etc. Credits in official material (program, press kit, project descriptions) will be acceptable.
The artists will be encouraged to look for turkish counterparts in their activities, with an aim for further collaboration when the turkish artists in their turn will be invited to Copenhagen, and further that both Copenhagen and Istabul artists go to New York City to present a common project.

The fact that Denmark will be run by Anders and Pia for 4 more years has sunk in. These are the people the Danish people have elected to take care of them.
Anders is Anders and Pia is Pia. If the voters can not see and judge for themselves based on their gut feeling, the state of mind of the people in Queen Margrethe's Kingdom are in Fear. And as all knows; the opposite of Fear is Love.
The best thing about the elections was essentially the posters around inner city of Copenhagen. I have tried to find out who actually created these posters, and was stopped by an enthusiastic Austrian journalist--while I was taking the pictures--who also wanted to know...but I had no clue who it was. Someone said there had been an article about them somewhere..and it was someone from the art academy. In any case the over-painted election posters of right wing candidates, and a couple social democrats had some messages on them that was perfectly located in front of HC Andersen
on Rådhuspladsen (Town Square) and down the walking street Strøget exhibited to Mr and Mrs Denmark. The messages are rather cryptic, sharp and to the bone in the very street style language of underground contemporary art. The great thing is also to imagine the artist doing these paintings right then and there, on the inspiration of standing in front of the municipality building, HC Andersen, the shops of Strøget and the frustration over Danish politics. I likes.
