CEV EDIT

Trained and practiced as an architect and sound engineer, Cevdet Erek started realizing a series of time based installations with the production of Avluda (In the courtyard) in 2002.

Using sounds & beats, moving images & objects, constructions and performances, he creates intense experiences by capturing and reformulating spaces and situations. He’s shown and performed at Stedelijk Museum CS, Istanbul Bienali, ZKM, Platform Garanti, V2_, Martin Gropius Bau, IFA, MOMAS, Art Museum of Estonia, Living art Museum Rejkavik and others. He received the Uriot Prize with ‘Studio’ (2005) during his research residency at Rijksakademie – Amsterdam.

In early 2007, Cevdet restarted playing drums, singing and visualizing for Istanbul 90’s hyperactive rock act Nekropsi, following the band’s surprising resurgence with the CD ‘Vol. 2 – Released once every 10 years’. The band is nowadays busy with the new idea ‘4/4’ , which will be performed at Platform Garanti CAAC in the opening day of the Istanbul Biennial.

CEV EDIT is Cevdet’s part-time solo for rough beats and textures.
